I was wondering what is the typical amount to add for the following herbs/spices?

anise
ginger
juniper berries
lemongrass
licorice
rose hips
sarsaparilla

Thanks.

I was just copying some info from Extreme Brewing into my brew log just about 2 hours ago...

As per Sam Calagione's Extreme Brewing try this....

For 5 gallon batch
anise .5 oz - last 10 minutes of boil
ginger - fresh chopped - 2oz - last 10 minutes of boil
juniper berries - crushed - 2oz - last 10 minutes of boil
licorice root - 1.5oz - last 10 minutes of boil

The others spices on your list I could only guess at.....

Now I'm sure there's a better brewer out there that will tell me I'm full of it, but I want to share this from my own experience:

If you love beer, particularly yours, DO NOT use cardamom. EVER.

Oh, and molasses can dominate a beer too.

That's all I wanted to share.
