i want to do a chocolate stout but what makes the difference between a chocolate stout and a double chocolate stout?i really like the young's double.. im thinking of this recipe.

6 2/3lb dark malt extract
2lb dark dme
1lb crystal malt 60L
1/2lb roasted barley
1/2lb black patent
1.5oz cascade
.5oz hallertauer
6oz semisweet baking chocolate
and so-5 for a yeast

like to add some lactose not shure how much?
how does this sound i know there is a tones or other recipes out there!

Double traditionally implies that it's a bigger beer, but young's isn't that big.

Double chocolate stout isn't a style at all, it's just what they named their beer.

I've done sweet stouts with 1 lb of lactose, but young's is dryer than they've turned out. There are lots of clone recipes out there, and AHS's is supposedly very close.

It's just what they want to call it. A "double chocolate" would presumably have more chocolate in it (or more chocolate FLAVOR), but there is no such "style".
