Gas is coming out of my IN post when I disconnect the gas line. It is the only small leak in the entire system. Can gas escape if I have the gas connected and on?

It seems impossible to me

It shouldn't, no....IF the leak is coming from the poppet, (the spring loaded pokey thing in the center of the post).

A couple of my kegs leak from the gas poppet if it's not perfectly seated. You can try poking it with something to see if you can reseat the poppet better, or just live with it. I just live with them....like you say, no worries when it's connected to the fridge.
