I pitched on Thursday and had extremely active fermentation beginning late Friday night and all weekend until mid-morning yesterday. Now it has been completely inactive for about a day. What is the harm in sending it to the Secondary now?

"Also allows more nasties to fall out before racking."

Great advice - that alone is worth its weight in gold! Perhaps I'll move it now to where I intend to rack and allow it to settle further for a few days.

Remember -

1) There is no harm in leaving it longer in the primary.
2) There are several benefits to leaving it longer in the primary.
3) Removing from the primary as soon as possible has no benefits at all.

Worry about "how soon" is usually a fundamental error.

I leave mine for a minimum two weeks in primary, normally 3. Then I'll rack to secondary or just straight to a bottling bucket. If I see some stuff in the bottling bucket I'll rack it to a secondary and leave it to settle more.

LOL..I resurrected this post in pointing out that most on the board probably asked silly questions in their early days, but thanks for the reply :)
