Mash paddle

I've looked around for a mash paddle. ( for the record my current paddle is s cheap plastic one that either came with my first all grain kit or I picked up. It works pretty well and was inexpensive, less than $5

I'm thinking about making one of mahogany. I picked up a piece of that today at a big orange box store. It's 3/4" thick x 5w" wide and the length is 4'. $16

Is Mahogany a good/safe piece of wood to use?

Some folks had concerns about the oil content in mahogany. Maple is the wood of choice for most brewers. Mine is a trimmed down ash Louisville slugger...

Thanks for the link! I should of searched before starting another thread. Looks like the mahogany is going back for some maple.
