storage of beer that has been cold?

SWMBO bought me some good beers for X-mas, they were warm when purchased. In a stroke of absolute genius she left them in the trunk of her car (18 degrees here), thankfully they didn't freeze. Now that they've been cold it would be bad to let them warm up again and then make them cold yet again when I go to drink them, right? At least I've always been told thats not a good thing
 
That seems to be the rumor but I don't think it's true. In fact, the local brewery here told me they chill all their stored beer and I have bought plenty of their stuff warm at the local liquor store only to chill it down a second time and enjoy a fine beer. I think the best thing to do is avoid true extremes in either temp and you'll be fine

Yup...storage at excessively hot temps will spoil the brew.


I would just toss them into the fridge.
