I have just made up a Festivals Pilgrims Hope, extract kit. I had an OG of 10.47, but I have read other reviews on it, and they vary between 10.45 to 10.53. How can this bee. I can understand in a grain recipe that differing extraction efficiencies are to be expected, but when using LME?

Any ideas?

Not a biggy, but I am trying to learn so wanted to ask

Thank you

Because it's an extract recipe and depending upon how well you mix the wort and the top off water will determine what your measured OG is but in reality the ACTUAL OG can't be different than what the recipe states as it's all from extract-unless you really screw up the volumes............

Thank you, that is what I thought. I am within 1 point of what most were getting, so not worried, but confused as to how one reviewer obtained a 10:53.

Maybe he used a lot less water than the recommended 23l

Thank you again
