Our supplier sent us 18gal kettles instead of our 12gal kettles so since we're really awesome :)p) we will be selling 18 gallon kettles at our 12gal kettle prices. These will be made to order so there will be a 1 week lead time to get welded.

tempting. would like to move up to 10 gallon batches and this would fit the bill.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having the couplers drilled into the bottom?

From my website:

"I'm obviously biased because I produce welded kettles but that's for a reason; they are just a better, more durable design. But here is a quote from a HomeBrewTalk.com moderator (largest online brewing forum in the world) discussing welded vs weldess fittings on kettles...

"Welded = no chance for leaks, very durable, nothing to replace/maintain, permanent, less parts to clean

Weldless = sometimes finicky when installing (can leak), o-rings to replace (very occasionally), not as durable, not permanent (you can change your mind), more parts to clean"
