My cousin-in-law wants to get her hubby some brewing equipment for his birthday and asked me what she should get him. I tried taking a look on google.co.uk for webstores, but it seems like the kits are put together with different equipment across the pond. What I'd like to suggest is a basic beginners kit similar to this: http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/basic-starter-kit.html

Help a fellow Brit out? :)

Head over to Jim's Beer Kit...sorry, i cant link from work for some reason today...

There should be lots of useful information for the UK brewer.

Thanks, I did see that site, and it seems to have quite a good bit of info but no kits for sale. She has no idea about brewing and just wants to get a premade kit for him.

Hi Gremlyn. Check out http://hopandgrape.co.uk . I use them for all my brewing and they're very helpful and really friendly. They do starter kits and also gift vouchers, so hopefully you'll be able to find something suitable there. :mug:

Thanks Danek, that site clears up this barrel mystery to me a bit. Calls it a 'pressure barrel', I assume this is like a big plastic keg? I'm not sure they have anywhere to keep such a thing at 'cellar' temperature, but I will ask.

I think that Keg is only about a gallon or so, not sure why I think that, but I believe I read it somewhere while looking up the kit you linked.

The bucket is about 8.7 gallons, so the keg is probably close to 5 gallons based on the pictures. It looks like a giant tap-a-draft; other than the lack of bottling stuff.
