I'll probably end up attending the craft beer fest as well.

Slightly off topic. What do you guys think of my new toy? Finished building the collar this weekend.

Looks great would love to have one like that. You have all of those taps full

Not yet. Only the first two. IPA and Red Ale. My next investment is in a beergas system. Nitrogen and stout faucet. I've been craving a breakfast stout and want to have the correct system for dispensing.

You got a good jump start on on filling the taps on that bad boy. Funny you have a red ale on tap i plan on brewing a batch soon. What kind of breakfast stout are you looking to do are you looking to do like a blueberry stout

I'm not a big fan of clones, mostly because I feel if I'm going to buy ingredients for a recipe, it might as well be original, or a recipe developed by another homebrewer. However, I LOVE founder's breakfast stout, so I was considering following one of the clone recipes on HBT. Not sure yet though.

I dont do many clones but i have done a founder's breakfast stout it came out dam close. I may still have the recipes in my logbook ill see if i can hunt it down for you

Holiday Beverage had a new mead on the shelf a few days ago when I was there. It's infused with coffee. Looked interesting, and the price was very good ($21), but I was already spending too much on beer to add that on.

Every time i walk in that place i walk out spending more money then i planed on walking in I would like to try that mead sounds different with the coffee in it

Has anyone tried the Growler filling station at Champs Beverage? I've filled up a few times there. Had an aged oak porter from Samuel Adams, and Allagash Black.

Hi all, another Staten Islander checking in. I'm Elliott and I live in Annadale off of Hylan (near Blue Heron park). I've only been home brewing since January and am wanting to learn more. I am doing all grain brewing in a 1 gallon, but my next batch should be 5 gallons already. I'm pretty much known as the office beer snob and put in charge of the office kegerator (I work at a startup - we get to enjoy things like this ;)) and luckily work a block away from Rattle N Hum where you will find me usually once a week. I grew up in Belgium and am primarily a fan of Tripel's and Quad's - but also love IPA's and pretty much anything craft beer related.

Hope to meet you all at a future meetup or brew club event!

Haven't tried champs. Their craft selection usually isn't too good. Holiday rocks. Theyre having an Oskar Blues tasting some time in march.

No haven't been to champs in over a year. I like going Holiday Beverage its down the block from me and has a GREAT craft selection and has a growler station too. Think i need to take a trip down to Champs would like to try the Allagash Black.

IN OFFICE KEGERATOR?! instant envy and jealousy!

Why don't you come by next monday? If you're available, that is. New brewers always provide a different kind of perspective.

Sadly I don't have off - the downside of working at a start-up - otherwise I would be there in a heartbeat.

And yeah we just got the kegerator last week and already got a Brooklyn lager in there - that's just because I haven't managed to source a good Manhattan based delivery company just yet - though I think I found one in Astoria. Hopefully I will get some Delirium on tap soon enough. If any of you are ever in the city on a Friday after 6pm, we have "Wine Fridays" (I work at a company that sells wine online) where we can invite a couple of people to enjoy wine and beer, as well as a catered dinner. Would love to show off the kegerator ;)

Sounds like you work at a great place. Next time am in the city on a Friday i know who i am going to get a hold of :mug: Sorry to hear that you can't make it Monday but i am sure we will post all the information that we talking about for the guys that cant be there so we can get their feed back as well

I like Holiday beverage, also. The only inconvenience is the drive for me. It's on the other side of the island lol.

I agree, Holiday is a bit out of the way for me but Champs is even further. Champs had had a nice growler line up but I just picked up a few bottles. I talked to the guy for a bit and he said growler sales are doing well.

Holiday is definitly the best place on the island and Wayne always gets the the Sixpoint Mad Scientest when they come out.

I actually held off on contacting Ken because I didn't want to mention anything about a homebrew group just yet to any vendors. I didn't want to feign commitment.

However, this was assuming everyone was comfortable just sitting at a open table. If you want a private room I'll call him tomorrow.

Open table/private room am ok with either.. I am happy that we are all getting together to get this ball rolling

Even though it's a monday, I'd be concerned that they wouldn't let us take dining room tables without ordering food. Was anyone planning on eating? I'll probably order something to tell you the truth.

Oh and I'm bringing my iPad to take notes instead of paper and pen. After being called a blue collar loser earlier in the week on the forum, I need to feel rich to boost my ego. ;)

Does that thing do anything besides run Words with friends and Angry birds?

I got you topped....i'm being chaufferred to Killmeyers monday, with a police escort. Blue collar, my a$$

Ill bet ill order some food too. Good beer good food. Airbornguy cool we need someone taking notes i know not everyone can make it Monday so maybe we can post some of the things we went over on here for those guys.
