Anyone else experiencing or hearing this? My LHBS is having alot of difficulty in restocking common items and they have heard from thier suppliers that they are having shortages. Also, take a look at AHBS, Northern and Morebeer and you will find alot of items that have been out of stock for MONTHS. What is going on, were we all on the tip of a huge SURGE in homebrewing? Odd, yes.

I am mainly looking at equipment shortages... my LHBS said that there has been a boon in homebrewing interest...

I am seeing a huge number of 'not in stock' disclaimers on most online source sites, but I am also one of what seems to be MANY new brewers that are recent new members of online brewing forums. Mostly equipment; malts/grains/hops seem to be readily available.

I think the price increases and lessened availability of Corny's clearly illustrates the situation. :(

If you think they're hard to get down there, try getting them in Canada. I had to pay $55CDN EACH for mine and they weren't even reconditioned. I still had to buy poppets and o-rings for the posts and lids.

that's odd

northern brewer just had a sale on cornies...$20 ea. if ya buy 4 or more

that's a helluvagood deal IMO

i think it is a shortage on raw materials in general due to the now finished housing boom in the US and the continuing development in China. Materials such as stainless steel and copper are in more demand so the price goes up and I'm sure homebrew shops aren't first on the list when it comes to buying these materials.

We will be seeing a shortage of certain hops this summer, due to the big warehouse fire last fall.

Just got an email from More beer saying my wort cooler is on back order. So much for starting my first all grain next week. :(

Cripes. That's sick, dude. How do you store it all? Do you have a foodsaver?

Sick? It's fricking beautiful man! Now you know why I need a brew hut. :cross:

I do have a FoodSaver. Here's what 55 lbs. of Pale looks like.

I've made some bags pre-measured & mixed for specific recipes too. For my Haus Ale or my Bavarian Hefe, I grab one of those bags, open it and drop it in the Barley Crusher. Hops are foodsavered and in the freezer, yeasts are in the fridge.

Most of the items are from a bulk buy I facilitated. The result is most of my 5 gallon batches cost 7 bucks or less (not counting propane).
