My carboy will be free this weekend.

This is my second brew, first recipe. I'm trying to make something
with a definite bitter hop presence but more malty than an IPA.
Also, is there any reason not to add the Goldings at flameout?

Anyone care to comment?

American Pale Ale
Safale US-05

Extract w/grain
5 gallons
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
39 IBU

OG: 1.057

Grain:
1 lb. American crystal 40L

Boil:
SG 1.095

6 lb. 0 oz. Briess Light DME

Hops (pellet):
1 oz. Magnum (14.4% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Styrian Goldings (aroma)

looks like a solid recipe with one exception. the goldings at flameout aren't a problem but you'll probably want some at around 15-20 minutes too. I'd say an ounce at 15 minutes and an ounce at flameout. adjust the bittering hops to maintain your desired IBU.

I figured some should get boil time.

I think I'll just let the IBU bump to 41 instead of having
to use less than an ounce of magnum as I'm not going
to brew again for ~1 month. The goal of 39/40 was
just to stay within style, but it really doesn't matter
that much. I love hops.

Thanks!
