I just pitched my first batch of cider this weekend.

I may transfer this first batch to a secondary carboy by week two or maybe bottle and pasteurize in bottles (just noticed sticky) etc.

I am wondering if I can put a second batch directly on top of the fresh yeast cake left behind in the primary carboy?

Sure, you'll probably have a very strong fermentation from it...Pitching on top of yeast cakes is wonderful and its almost like making a 5 gallon yeast starter! The yeast count is so huge that fermentation kicks right up.
