CaraRed in IPA?

I was just gifted 2.5 pounds of CaraRed. I am wondering if this is a good sub for standard crystal malts in IPA's or IIPA's? I have no experience with this malt. I am thinking about making it about %7 of my grist along with Pale Malt on a big IPA. I am guessing it will be copperish...

I dont' see a problem with it, except you that you might end up with an army beer... IRA - India Red Ale

Carared will not turn a beer red. For that you need a small amount of something much darker.
