I am bottling tomorrow and I have a bag of corn sugar that came with my kit.

Do I just put the whole bag in a gallon of water, heat it up, cool it down and then add it?

I am working with about four gallons of beer and a gravity of 1.010

Thanks

3/4 C is the rule of thumb for a 5 gal batch. Of course, what style you're brewing, as well as personal preference dictates whether or not you use more or less. Assuming you're talking about a 1lb bag, dumping the whole bag would certainly over-prime the beer, resulting in a super fizzy concoction, and possibly exploding bottles (think glass grenades).

You only want to use 3/4 cups of corn sugar.
I don't know how much is in your bag but if you add too much corn sugar at bottling you are going to get bottle bombs!

3/4 cup it is than

Thanks for the advice.

cant wait!!

Does it really take two weeks for the yeast to carbonate the beer?

I dont think I can wait

It takes a minimum of 2 weeks but more like 3 for it to really get good. You can always taste on each week though just to see how your beer is progressing... :mug:
