So the local housing authority purchased the duplex I was living in. They decided to tear it down and build something else. So they asked me to leave. I can tell you, if your gonna get asked to leave...it may as well be by the housing authority. They paid my application fee, move in deposit, and they handed me $850 for my moving expenses. On top of that, they gave me the rent difference for 60 months. So I get in the mail today half of the settlement...3800 bucks. I'll get the other 3800 in 6 months.

About 1200 of it is already accounted for. I'm going to get my sidepipes for my cobra ceramic coated. Another 500 is going to pay bills. The rest is mine to spend as I please.

Any brewing related suggestions?

I currently have a 10 gallon home depot style mash tun with a SS false bottom and ball valve. My brew kettle is SS with temp probe, SS false bottom, and ball valve. I have a copper wort chiller.

I was considering going electric. I don't have a turkey fryer yet. Well, I had one but it was a home made redneck one and it didn't end up working. I have a propane tank but no burner. I don't know anything about the electric element or what they even look like.

Kegging is out of the question. I just don't have room for it.

Sounds like you're covered. Get a bunch of kits and buckets and make 100 gallons :)

Yea. Oxygenation, keezer, casks? Sounds like you have the basics already.

I would go propane, Bayou classic is the $h!t... Sounds like a jet taking off and gets the stuff boiling in no time. A sump pump to recirculate ice water through your chiller should get you from boiling to pitching temp in about 10 minutes. Then more fermenters because there is no such thing as too much beer.

Brewing inside or out? Inside go electric. Outside go propane. I say either way buy a bunch of buckets and throw a party to celebrate once it's made!:mug:

Sounds like I'll pick up a burner sometime this week.

I considered one of those SS conicals. I'll stick with my buckets for now. All that shiny stuff does temp me though

ask "Theflyingbeer" from the "full on electric brewing" thread to build you one after his is done!

Dare I suggest save it? Not for the far future, but short term until you get settled in the new place. Then brew a few batches and see what you are lacking in equipment. I always find something I "need" or an improvement to the equipment that "must" be made, so a use for the money is always coming up.

I too think you should make sure your housing predicament is covered 1st. Then look to upgrade some brewing items.

you should spend it on porn. that's the gift that keeps giving.

+1

Oh, did I just type that out loud??

Seriously though, you should consider electric for indoor brewing if you have a nice 220V outlet you can get to. It's not that expensive if you don't buy expensive blingy parts. And it's quiet and looks cool. and saves on propane costs and you never run out
