weed Control

I put in a new hop garden this year made from 2 x 8 and used compost to fill in the raised beds. I did not till the existing flower garden under the beds and i know have weeds poping up. I pull them out and the next day or so their are 2 times as many. Can i use the Preen weed / fertilizer in my hop / veggie garden? I know the veggies are ok but what about the hops. I am sick of weeding them out everyday what can i do to help.

spread out old newspaper,cover that with mulch. then next spring turn it under and start over.

A Hoe works just fine as long as you are careful.

+1 on the newspaper and mulch.

I put Preen on my hop beds after the hops were all up. Plan to follow up with the trusty Hoe.
