Confused on which socket I need

I bought 4 of the Corny kegs from norther brewer. They are ball-lock. What socket to i need to remove the gas/beer posts for cleaning?

A couple of the posts look different from the others, sort of a star at the bottom.

A 7/8" 12 point socket works on most of them.

I had the hardest time finding a socket, eventually I just gave up and went to using a regular old adjustable wrench; PITA but it works.

ditto on that. I use a 22mm box end, works great. My sockets were not deep enough.

Two sockets, a 7/8" and an 11/16", both of the 12 point deep socket variety will fit any ball lock keg fittings that you will ever encounter. As stated above, 7/8" and 11/16" box wrenches (which are 12 point) will also do the job.

A 12 point socket will fit both a 12 point and a 6 point fastener, but a 6 point socket will only fit a 6 point fastener. Just food for thought when deciding what kind of socket set to get.

I have two different sizes. I just went to a pay n save, for one and harbor freight for the other. I think they were 2.99 a peice.
