There are several recipes that I would like to make that require cold conditioning. I don't have the wherewithall to place a carboy in a fridge to do this. Where I am in Ohio it's starting to get cold. Would it be useful to simply sit the carboy outdoors since it's at least some level of cold? Or, will the changes in temp from day to night have adverse effects?

when they sued to lager beer back in the day they would use caves...I doubt your going to have compelte adverse effects although its gonna be difficult to replicate if you dont know temperatures
