Looking to make my first non kit English pale ale recipe that calls for 0.5 lbs of english medium crystal malt. Is there a common form of crystal malt similar to English Medium Crystal? I was thinking of using either crystal 60L or 40 L.

Most "medium" crystal malts from English maltsters are around 45L, or a bit darker, so you're in the right ballpark.
it's a little maltier than american crystal 40, so i'd go with crystal 60 to replace
