Today, I went out to my hop yard and was checking to see if some of my cones were ready to be harvest. After noticing that they have a papery feel and there is a dark yellow color to the lupulin, I took a few off of the bines, tore them open, rubbed them together, and give them a whiff. To my horror, they have lost that hop aroma that I was accustom to and smelled a little skunky. Also, the lupulin glands were a dark dark yellow, almost brown color.
I have read that hops that have been sunstruck often have a skunky smell to them. But I havent heard of it happening to them while they were still on the bine.

Any info on this matter would be much appriciated seeing as this is my first year growing. Thank you.
