I have a recipe that calls for 6 pounds of light dry malt extract. I have 2 pounds of amber dry malt extract that I want to use. I changed my recipe in my calculator to 4 pounds of light dry malt extract and 2 pounds of amber dry malt extract and the numbers seem to be pretty similar. The recipe is for a california common. Do you see any reason that this would be a bad thing?

No, not really. The LME adds mostly alcohol content and a little color/flavor. You will still end up with good beer either way. Are you going to steep any grains?

Well, it calls for 1 pound of caramel/crystal. According to the calculator my color is a little dark but I think in doing an extract recipe that may be ok...Do you have any suggestions I could do to this.I was told to maybe add a little vienna malt..
