Back at cha... (Perspective matters...)

I actually didn't mean to be offensive. However, I spent 4.5 years and alot of money on a Poly Sci degree. Obama is a moderate politician. To call him anything else isn't a matter of perspective, it's simply incorrect.

Coming soon...to a fridge near you.

Question:

Obama credits a man named "Frank" in his book as the man who most shaped his ideology...

Who is this "Frank?"

And just because you spent a lot of money and time at one of the countries propaganda mills, does not make you automatically 'correct'.. it simply means you learned what they taught you.. that has no bearing on truth... one way or the other..

Truth has no agenda.. Seek to find the truth...

For the Super Bowl party, "90 to 100" 12-ounce bottles of the Honey Ale were served, Stephens said. There were no leftovers.

No Mr. Beer kit here. That's gotta be at least a 10 gallon batch.

unless they did multiple batches

I find it amusing because it's really easy to pick out people who don't know politics from a hole on the ground. They are generally the ones who call him communist/Marxist/ socialist. You give away your hand (or lack thereof) with those posts...
Actually your post is amusing. At the risk of having this moved to the debate forum, I'll reply to your claim of "lack of hand". Feel free to start a thread in the debate forum to dispute any of these points by Barry, The Socialist.

Barry was raised by socialists and is surrounded by socialist friends and colleagues. You are with who you associate...

Jim Wallis, Obama’s spiritual advisor & forced redistribution of wealth advocate
Van Jones, disgraced Green Jobs Czar & Communist & 9/11 Truther
Ron Bloom, Manufacturing Czar & anti-free market
John Holdren, pro-redistribution of wealth
Andy Stern, SEIU President & redistribution of wealth fan & #1 visitor to the White House in ’09 and 10
Anita Dunn, fan of Chairman Mao
Mark Lloyd, FCC ‘Diversity Czar’ & Hugo Chavez fan
Carol Browner, socialist
Robert Creamer, socialist
Donald Berwick, "Excellent healthcare is by definition re-distributional. "

Barry's parents, both socialists and communist sympathizers.
Barry's grandparents introduced Barack Obama Jr. to poet and communist Frank Marshall Davis who became his mentor.
Barry admittedly sought out ‘Marxist’ professors
Barry admittedly attended ‘socialist conferences
Barry attended a Marxist church for 20 years– led by pastor Jeremiah Wright

Barry's administration proposed to nationalize the New England fishing industry. Under this plan, private fishermen would be put out of work, replaced by a smaller number of government-employed fishermen.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

The SEC has just made a major rule change making it easier for unions to take control of corporations' boards of directors.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

When GM and Chrysler were in critical financial straits, the Obama administration intervened. Instead of letting them take the traditional approach to such problems -- bankruptcy -- the Obama administration took them over, preserving the crippling union contracts, putting their own chosen people in charge, and shaping future offerings not on consumer demand, but their political agenda.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

Under ObamaCare, the government will be taking over one-sixth of the United States economy. It will demand that American citizens obtain health insurance or face legal sanctions, and will eventually set itself up as a "competitor" to private insurance companies. It will be dictating how much doctors can charge for their services, even if (as with current Medicare rates) they do so at a loss. (the law has now been voided as unconstitutional)

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

When asked about his tax plans by "Joe The Plumber," Obama stated that he believes that some people make too much money, and things are "better" and "fairer" if some benevolent power were to intervene, take some of that "too rich" person's money, and redistribute it more "fairly."

But Barack Obama says he is not a socialist.

Barry has established a "CEO pay czar" whose job is to look at the pay rates of the heads of corporations and decide if they're being paid too much.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

Barry has nationalized the student loan business, making all student loans now the exclusive providence of the federal government.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

As of the first quarter of this year (the most recent numbers I could find quickly), 96.5% of all new home loans were backed by the federal government.

But Barry says he is not a socialist.

Frank Davis, however, this hardly makes him communist if this is your point. Trying to use a figure a person has claimed to admire as evidence of his/her policies over said persons voting record and actions makes one fall into the Glenn Beck school of conspiracy theories. Let's base our opinions on "real" evidence.

History lesson. The modern day Democratic party came from ideals of combing socialism with capitalism. Much like conservatisms roots are based on capitalism and fascism. Being a Democrat does not make one a socialist any more than being a conservative makes one a fascist. These parties and ideals simply didn't "spring to life" from nothing. However , there are topics in both socialism and fascism that people find appealing. I'm not a "bleeding heart" liberal, but I do find the inaccurate blasting of a good politician to be offensive.

[insert long ass rant here]
I have no agenda here, I just thought that was funny.

I would like to have a bottle for a keepsake, but I'm betting it tastes like a generic honey ale... probably didn't even make a starter.

On the topic of the thread, I would love to see this recipe.

I now very, very much appreciate the Mods moving political talk to the Debate Forum. It disturbs me to be reminded how many among us get their facts, news and world views from talk radio. I'll be more careful about which threads I open, that's all.

The recipe for "White House Honey Ale" has not been released

And he promised this would be the most transparent administration ever? And they won't even release a beer recipe? :D

The title had 'Obama' in it. I wanted to know about the beer, but I expected lots of childish and volatile posts. As a whole, I thought the thread was pretty civil and on-topic considering.
On-topic: they have a white house beehive?

That was funny. I'll have to agree I like ed's pale ale but if appreciate if you guys kept your politics in your pants, (or the debate forum at least).

Not correct, Obama credits this man as the person who most influenced his ideology.. Upon his death, Obama sought out and found a new mentor, one who was 'identical' in his ideology as Frank Marshall Davis.. The reverend White.. but of course in the twenty years sitting in the pews, he had no idea of this ideology (even though it was identical to his formative years mentor).. You do know what a 'mentor' is, and the influence such a person has on a young mind, right?

The fact that he sought out a carbon copy to be his spritiual advisor/mentor is 'telling'...

For the record, I first heard about the Frank Marshall Davis thing (in the business news daily) when Obama was running for senator in Illinois against a man I respect as a 'true' intellectual... long before I heard of Glenn Beck... another incorrect 'assumption' on your part...

Is that the readers digest version?

Here, I found the rest of the Digest article:

If it walks like a duck, if it looks like a duck,
if it acts like a duck, and it quacks like a duck...

It's a safe bet that it's a duck...
:D

Paging Glenn Beck...paging Glenn Beck...

Look man, we don't have to agree on politics and heaven knows we obviously don't. You know what I'm sure of? We probably both love beer, so let's tip one back and agree to disagree...Cheers my friend.

Why is it that you guys, when engaged in these 'discussions' always need a straw man to attack as if that is somehow an argument that has merit?

That's fine.. but you brought up the whole socialist/communist thing... and also the discrediting of anyone holding to that opinion of the man, before anyone even did so or alluded to it in any way, at least in todays discussion.. no one else but you.. (I did not go back through all the previous pages)......

and 'that' original statement was also a straw man argument in it's own right... and then you attempted to silence disagreement by elevating yourself to some sort of 'expert' on the subject.. as if that is supposed to impress us plain ole ignorant yokels...

None the less... yeah
Cheers to beers!
:mug:

I'm disappointed at where this thread went. Throw it into the Politics forum. I enjoy talking beer and stuff, but when people can't leave out the drivel it becomes petty. Never talk politics and religion at dinner or a date. Can we get back to the beer?

You're right, nobody had brought this up today. In fact, the comments very early were what got me fired up. Perhaps you are right and Obama is a Communist Muslim from Kenya. Truth be told, all of those arguments are conspiracy theories and nothing in his voting record or his political career suggest so. I'm simply stating that super libs thought he was going to be a quasi-socialist leader. They are down on him because he isn't. I just get peeved at comments and theories that are way off base. At any rate, we're to be talking beer here so cheers my friend...Whatcha got on tap?

Coming soon...to a fridge near you.

I never said anything about being a muslim or his birth place..All that assuming will get you in trouble..

The fact that he's not acting 'as' socialist to the degree as was expected, has no bearing on his ideology/world view... nor does it mean he is not acting in socialist ways..

It means, there is only so much the American People will put up with, and as such have neutered him to some degree, and that he has gotten into office and has decided it's a pretty cush lifestyle, and wants another term at it...

You can tell much more about a man by who his friends are, and who his enemies are, than you can by what he says, or what he does at any given snapshot period of his life....

Who he surrounds himself with, and who he turns to for advice tell the story...

Not drinking anything at the moment.. That's for later after the days 'to do list' has been first addressed...

This is very cool. As a beekeeper myself, I hope to brew this beer when the honey flows in a few months. Maybe he'll also get a mead done this season and have it aged for the big party in early Nov 2012.

FYI, the first make work pay tax refund of $1000 helped me move to a kegging system. I just realized the second Obama tax break has increased our monthly income by $100, which will certainly help the brewing hobby this year. Anybody else use all these Obama tax cuts for brewing purposes?

When did they start calling them the "Obama Tax cuts?" LOL.. He fights the extension of the Bush tax rates tooth and nail, and then when beotch slapped in the mid term election and forced to extend them, suddenly they're the "Obama Tax cuts?" How do they get away with this all the time?...

Is there 'anything' that the left doesn't own?

Leave the politics out of General Beer Discussion!

Pretty soon we will have Neo-Nazis espousing the genetic superiority of Belgian White Beer.

Why can't we just talk brew?

Bush's tax policy didn't include the 2% reduction in employee paid FICA taxes...

So, irony that taxes are lower now under Obama than they were under Bush....

I still want the administration's transparency promise to come through and hope they post the recipe!

wow. Really? I'm brewing my 5th batch, and even I know that anything shedding light on home brewing is a good thing.

As a card carrying republican.....please STFU and have a beer.

As my dad used to say.. "Want in one hand, and crap in the other.. See which gets full quickest!"

Let r8rphan have the last word on this. Or it will never end!

If I was RICH (not just president) I would devise recipes all day and have my lackeys brew it.

SO TF WHAT? He Homebrews??????

HELL YES!!!!! That is an amzing and wonderful point. He didn't watch the thermometer himself? SO WHAT!!!!!
