Ok I know that this is not the correct place to post this question, I just don't know where else to post it. I am having a bunch of people come up next week and I have heard that rum is quick and relatively easy to make. Can anybody give me a play by play of how I could make it?

Rum is distilled...which is illegal in the US. While the best rum is made from pure sugar cane, then aged in oak barrels for a few years, then blended.

Legality aside, any distilled spirit surpasses the ease and quickness of beer, wine or mead. Not to be a downer, but I doubt there is any fermented beverage you could have ready by next week.

FWIW, my favorite rum is 10 Cane. Make some simple syrup, get some limes. 2oz rum, 1oz simple syrup, and 1oz lime juice shaken over ice makes a killer daiquiri.
