I know I should measure everything out but, I've been eyeballing it for years now.

I just switched to a new black tea (Nilgiri) and added too much. My new 2 gallon batch is very very dark. Can this very strong tea harm my scoby. Will the kombucha be affected negatively in any way?

I guess it depends on how strong fairly strong is. I'm English, I like my tea strong and bitter. I used a fairly strong blend of black tea and throw 8 tea bags into a gallon and let it cool naturally. It is basically undrinkable for me and I love strong tea... the Yeast/Bacteria seem to thrive on the tannins however, so it lightens up significantly over the week it is fermenting and leaves me with something I love the taste of.

I think you'll be good, just not 100% sure ....
