slightly lower bitterness. i assume you where counting on the evaporation to reduce your volume and increase your SG?
exactly, I was hoping for a 60 minute boil, and I've had problems with too much evaporation before, so I adjusted the amount of wort I was collecting out of the mash tun. So now I have just over 5 gallons of wort for a five gallon carboy.

that would of been suicide anyway. the wort is going to over flow like crazy in a 5 gallon carboy. hope you got a blow off tube.
