I've heard of vigorous fermentation, but this is a first for me...went with a blowoff tube in a new batch of vanilla porter, fermented at around 67 degrees per Jamil...36 hours later we've got the flippin stopper taped into the carboy while a solid stream of krausen runs through the blowoff...impressive stuff.
 
1" ID heavy vinyl tubing makes a tight fit in carboy necks. I've never had one come close to clogging in spite of some highly boisterous ferments...

Thanks Day, gonna have to invest in a couple of bigger tubes.
 
thats what i use. first time i used so5 the airlock shot off and hit the ceiling! went out and bought a big tube right away
