Hi

If I'm using a filter and a funnel to rack my beer from the primary to the secondary, how do I avoid splashing?

Why are you trying to filter?

I just siphon from the primary to the secondary and if a little yeast gets through, it's no big deal since it will have plenty of time to settle out. Put the hose all the way to the bottom of the secondary. It might splash a tiny little bit but as soon as it fills up above the hose, it'll be fine.

The purpose of the secondary is to clear your beer so no need to filter. You also want yeast in the secondary so they can metabolize fermentation byproducts and create a better tasting beer. In fact some argue not to transfer so you have the maximum amount of yeast available to condition your beer.
