new barley crusher!

I finally got the barley crusher with 15# hopper. I've got a grain bill already crushed from LBS. and was wondering if it was ok to run them through the new crusher?? I never have been real happy with the LBS crush. Has anyone tried this??

Sure, go ahead. I recommend running a pound through just to get the oil off the rollers.

What about running some rice hulls and/or flaked barley to soak up some of the oils?? I dont have any spare grains handy. Need to get some now.

I never noticed any oil on the rollers when I got mine, I just ran my first grain bill through it right away.

Sure, whatever ya got...maybe some cheerios, white rice, its all good.

I had gotten mine for Christmas and love it but yes like the others said, run something through there 1st it get the oil off the rollers. I sometimes double crush mine so go ahead and mill them again.

It's a very light oil. Most likely coolant from the machining process.
