I had to go on opening day - Deschutes Pub in Portland released Abyss 2009 Also on tap was 2008. This is an unbelievable Imperial Stout like no other I've ever had (except last year). If you see it around, pick up a bottle - it is worth the 12$

I was also pleasantly surprised by the pub-only Armory XPA.

Picked up my 6 pack and a 2008 collector box at the pub myself yesterday. I have a bottle of 2007 and 2008 but stupid me only bought one bottle of each. But now I have a 2008 I can open up and let the other one sit.

My wife and I stopped in at the brewery on Saturday and had a vertical sampling of 2007, 2008, and 2009. It was her first vertical sampling and simply amazing for me. I can't wait until next year to do it again.

We will be getting Abyss this year in Texas for the first time but only on draft, apparently TABC decided they didn't want to approve the label. I have had it once before, it is AMAZING. I'm hoping that liquormax will get enough in that I can get six bottles through mailorder. liquidsolutions did a presale and already sold out of their allotment.

Picked up my 2 bottles today! Lucked out and got 2 of the last bottles at the shop.

I got a bottle today. Still have one from last year too. Going to try and get at least 10 more bottles this week (I live near Portland so this shouldn't be too difficult). I have to decide if I want to drink this bottle today or save it just in case I can't get more. Last year I was able to grab 3 bottles a couple months after release. I'm very impatient though, so we'll see what happens. Had Mirror Mirror yesterday, so I could do back to back Deschutes Reserve.

I love living in the great beer NW. My local grocery store beer buyer always makes sure to get at least a couple cases of this brew. Soooooo good. I feel sorry for you guys who have to hunt this stuff down. I guess it just makes it more rewarding right? :)

Rumor has that Super Jubel will be re-realeased this mid winter, so im looking forward to that.

I just bought an entire case today! My local supermarket didn't have any, so I asked if I could talk to their beer/wine buyer about special ordering a case. Not a problem at all! The dude was on the phone with the distributor and back to me with the good news in a matter of hours. Two days later, 2009 Abyss is on the wine rack under the stairs! That was way easier than driving all over town... :D

I'm definitely looking forward to a vertical tasting with one of the two bottles of 2008 I have left...

I had the 2009 on tap again last night. The Collins Pub in downtown Seattle has it and Double Bastard on tap right now. It was a good night :drunk:

I have a case at home that I purchased at the brewery in PDX on release day. They limited you to six bottles, but since I had the Bride with me, I was able to get a full case. I didn't expect to pay $12 per bottle, but I figure it will be worth the investment to have a great bottle of beer each year for the next dozen or so...

I also did the vertical tasting with 2008 and 2009 over dessert at the brewery, and I must say - with one year of rest, the 2008 was an amazing beer, while the 2009 tasted harsh and ashy. I think the 2009 will settle down just fine, but I was very pleased by the 2008.
