How long would it take for the color for wheat LME to change to lets say an amber LME?

I brewed an American Wheat last night and its a nice amber color. I purchased the lme from a local shop. I contacted them today and was told that I did in fact get wheat and not amber.

It's probably going to be great and I won't be able to reproduct it.

One more reason to go AG.

6 lbs. Wheat Malt Extract (60/40)
1/2 lb. Wheat Malt
1/2 lb Six Row Malt
1/4 lb Cara-Pils Malt
Steep grains for 30min at 157F

OG 1.050

Wheat LME always seems more amber colored to me, too - even very fresh from my LHBS. My first (mostly extract) batch was pretty much an amberweizen as far as color, but it tasted great. I've since adjusted the recipe to do a 4.5 lb partial mash which significantly reduces the amount of LME I need, plus I wait to add the extract until the end of the boil. It comes out a whole lot lighter colored that way.

How big was your boil? A partial boil ups the color considerably over a full boil.
