Stout TC Thermowell versus Stout Welded Thermowell

I have Stout Conicals as well as a MLT. The The Thermowells on the MLT are welded in while the one's on the Conicals are Tri Clamp type (TC). They are both great pieces of equipment. I have ordered a Brew Kettle and an HLT with HERMS both with TC Type Thermowells as an added cost.

I prefer the TC Type for 3 reasons:

1. Easier to clean.
2. Easier to Sanitize
3. Can be replaced with a probe.

If you order, you will need to get John to put on TC Type Thermowells if you want them. I would suggest that you do.

The thermometer is the same in both cases and is a MPT that goes into a 1/2 " FPT on the thermowell housing.

I also like this product for a TC Fitting. It reads better and quicker.

Basically a probe that has the TC fitting. This is a pix of a welded fitting way down in our MLT. What lurks under the probe. Very hard to clean.

And yes, there are two probes. Different levels in the MLT and yes they do read different.
