Hi there - I made a newbie mistake and could use some help.

I was making a recipe from Joy of homebrewing -
I guess I was too anxious to get everything right, and ended up taking the OG from my wort (post boil - cooled, but not added to the carboy or topped up to 5 gallon batch volume.)the OG read 1.152 with approx 2 gallons

I just took a reading of the batch as the fermentation looks done and it read 1.011 (which was the expected FG according to the recipe)

Any ideas how to backtrack to get the correct OG?

Sure! Radial segment of baked confection.

152 gravity points, diluted from 2 to 5 gallons means (152 x 2)/5 = 61, or 1.061 OG.

Sounds like the yeast did a good job. Cheers!

ETA: Welcome to HBT! Which recipe did you make?
