I am starting to gather parts for steam infusion setup. I am planning on using a half barrel keg and put a water heater element towards the bottom. I was thinking of removing the stem from the valve and use the valve with a sanke coupler that runs to the manifold with a guage, extra ball valve and pressure relief to vent it when I need to.

I picked up a 5.5K @240V heating element from lowe's while I was there. I want to drill the keg and weld a coupler in there and screw the heating element into it. I was wondering if anyone knew what side of coupler it would take. It measures about 1.25" in diameter.

Does anyone have an idea on how how well they think this might work, using the regular stem valve(minus the stem) and sanke tap?
