someone told me a way to measure 1st runnings from AG is to let the runnings collect in an ale pail bucket so you can see how many gallons youve collected based off the notches on the pail. this made sense untill i thought about dumping the wort once collected into the brew kettle. woulndt this be risky for HSA? so now im not sure how i can actually measure this. what are some techniques i could use?

If you use the same vessel to boil in every time you brew, you can make a "measuring stick" for your brew kettle- a dowel rod with slits, your brew spoon, etc. Drain into your BK and then measure the depth to figure out how much you collected.
