Who has some info on/experince with brewing with spruce tips? I'd much rather use fresh tips (I can harvest them locally) than brew with an essence.
Does something in the tips mimic the acidic properties of hops ? (for some reason i cant type '*****in')
How much should I use in a 5 gal extract batch?

google spruce beer recipe tips

I've had it & I really think people drank it for its medicinal qualities (vitamin C), because it certainly tastes like medicine.

I've had ale flavored with spruce tips and bittered with hops--it was quite good. I have a nice, middle aged blue spruce in my front lawn and was thinking strongly on doing this.

Not sure how much to add-- I can see that adding too much may give it a medicinal character.
