initial fermenting problems

Once I locked the lid and put the airlock on my primary, it began to bubble like crazy for 24 hours. It then stopped, and has been a day or two. What could be wrong, should I introduce more yeast or give it time? It cannot be done right?
 
Yes it could be done. What temperature are you fermenting at?

Are you using a bucket? It's possible that it could be leaking elsewhere around the lid and since it may not be fermenting as much as it was, the gasses are escaping somewhere else. Wait at least a week before taking your hydrometer readings to see if there is a problem or not.
 
+1 to what McKBrew said. Don't worry. I believe just about everyone of us went through this problem or something similar for our first brews. After you make a couple more you'll start to get a feel for what's what.
