I recently (a week ago) racked to a secondary and this stuff has been forming on the top of my mead.

Sorry the images are kind of hard to see. The glass was very distorting.

Is this krausen or is it something I should be worried about? The smell coming from the gas lock can only be described as "delicious" so I'm not too worried. I haven't tasted it yet...

So, yeah, is this normal?

I've seen that junk on the top of mead too. If it doesn't smell or taste like vinegar, then it's just yeast and other assorted minutia associated with fermenting.

I had a heavy fermentation on my last primary and it started out looking like your photo but as it creeped up my carboy and then later subsided, I was left with basically a spider nest looking thing. It was cool!
And tasted mighty fine!
