Thought you all might to see beer in its infancy. We just started cutting our barley. It looks good and should easily make malt quality.

All you need is to convert one of those big rigs into a mash tun and find a really big kettle. Fifelee, glad to see that farming is working out for you (at least it looks that way to me).
 
How can you "tell" if it's going to be malt grade or feed grade?

Malt quality is plump kernels (more sugar) and low protein. The kernels are plenty plump and the weather was right for low protein, but we won't know for sure until we send a sample to a lab.
