Some of my light ales are about to tap dry, and I need to get more
batches rolling. problem is I'm out of vienna. I did a search here, and
found munich (which I have lots of) to be a good sub....though a tad
darker....not a prob though.

I'm doing a Centennial this weekend with this sub, just need
a thumbs up on this munich. I'm too low on 10l,and 20l to use
as a sub.

All thoughts appreciated.

I have found the munich to be considerably darker. I recently went to the LHS for Vienna for a saison and they were out and insisted that if I just sub 50%munich with 50% 2-row that I would get similar results. Well, I can't say about the flavor being the same or not but I can definately say that even at 50% the color was way darker than I planned. In the end though, an enjoyable beer.

They are similar (both very German) flavor-wise but, Vienna is a little under 4˚L and Munich is a little over 8˚L on the color side. You would have to assume that Munich has a little more toasty flavor as well.
