I have brewed 2 Brewer's Best and 2 Williams Brewing kits, none of which required or suggested secondary fermentation. I was looking at Nortern Brewer kits and almost all suggest secondary fermentation.

Other than getting a clearer beer, what does secondary fermentation do? Can one ignore that recommendation and just let it ferment to the correct s.g. in the primary fermenter?

Check out the thread links on the bottom of this page for previous discussions on the issue. The short answer is "maybe"

Good Luck!
