Can anyone confirm that hops do not accumulate soil contaminants (primarily metals) in the cone?

I have found several articles about using hops for phytoremediation, and they all reference accumulation being measured "after harvest" in the stems and leaves.

My (wives) concern is growing hops next to a house that used to have lead paint, and a driveway that had who knows what draining off it for the last 80 years...

Can't confirm, but if hops do uptake metals than there is a good chance it will be in the cone. Probably the best thing to do would be have the soil tested to see if there are harmful levels of lead.
