What ingredient is it that would require you to add rice hulls to the mash...Wheat malt, Flaked wheat, ect???
How many rice hulls would one use in a recipe that calls for 4.5 pounds of flaked wheat? My MLT has a copper manifold rather than a steel braid. Does that make any difference?
I was told that the rice hulls are supposed to go into the MLT first. That way, they create a "wet blanket" over your manifold which in turn creates a filter effect while draining the wort. I only used rice hulls once and thats what I did and it worked fine for my Hefe.
