I just got a bunch of bottles from a guy who gave up homebrewing a few years ago. In one of the boxes was a bag of bottle caps. I assume they are several years old and have been in his basement the whole time. Will the caps 'age out'? Would it be safe to use them?

As long as there's no rust or other gunk on them you'll be fine. Just give them a soak in sanitizer.
