Does anyone use the old Hoff-stevens kegs as a fermenter (these are the style before the Sanky keg)? I have a few on hand (both 8 and 16 GAL) and I don't know what to do with them. I think they will be difficult or impossible to clean. Does anyone use them for this? If so what modifications did you make to them? How do you clean them? Thanks, Mike

I am not familiar with them. But I would clean it like a carboy.... Fill it with hot water and add 4 or 5 TBSP of PBW or Oxyclean and let it sit overnight. That would leave you ready for a good rinsing and sanitize with Starsan or Iodophor.
