I've been wanting to brew a lager for a while now. I don't have access to any kind of refrigeration...except mother nature. I live in the midwest, and my garage tends to fluctuate around 35-45 degrees. Is this too much of a fluctuation to produce a decent bottom fermenting beer? Thanks.

For most lager strains, the optimal fermentation temperature is 48-55 degrees. You'd want to keep it there for 10 days to two weeks, until primary fermentation is finished. It sounds like it'd be very hard to maintain that temperature for you.
