I got a wine kit that requires an 8 gallon bucket, but I only have a 7. It only requires it to be filled to 6 gallons. Will this work or will it explode? I am making a Merlot.

What kit is it. Ive made a lot of wine and typically only the real big kits(the ones that are 15 liters or more and have raisins or grape skins) are the ones that really get wild. If you keep your temps down to the low end range you will most likely be safe with a smaller kit like a 10 liter wine kit. If yours is 15 liters of juice or more I would step up to a 7.9 bucket. Another thing that I over looked is if its a white wine I wouldnt worry either. The bigger red kits are much more vigorous.
