I use a heating mat from a garden centre that is really designed for heating potted plants. As a result the thermostat probe is really supposed to be pushed into soil, not grog - I think its made out of copper.
I understand a little copper is good, but its impossible to know how much is leeching over the weeks and too much is dangerous.
Does anyone know of a product that can coat my probe? I'm thinking of something that is like a thick liquid I can dip my probe into that sets like a hard plastic when cooled?
Before anyone asks, this is a 3 meter long, quality 125W surface heater that cost nearly £100 and works well, so I don't want to jump on an alternative unless there is a very good reason.
