I am brewing a bourbon barrel porter. The kit comes with 2 oz of oak cubes. The instructions state to add to secondary, with bourbon. The general notes mention bourbon infused oak cubes. So, should I just add the oak cubes and the bourbon like the recipe states, or do I soak the cubes ahead of time, and if so for how long? And between now and then is there a recommended storage for oak cubes, ie, refrigeration or ? they are currently in a sealed foil pouch.

Thanks

I soaked mine in the bourbon for about a week before adding them. I'm not sure it matters, though, if you're adding the bourbon as well.

They're fine in the foil pouch. Just cut open and use them when you're ready.
