I had missed that.
It looks like indeed he did meet his demise, and not from a free climb but from a type of bungee jumping but with climbing ropes!

Didn't he die several years ago? I vaguely recall hearing something about it obliquely through the kayaking community. Seems like it set off a huge controversy in the free-climbing world about safety.

Spiderman has got NOTHING on this guy! That was absolutely insane (especially when he jumped and momentarily was secured by NOTHING.)
